M. Butterfly [ flash back 3]

“Gallimard: Helga, I want a divorce.

Helga: I take it back. China is….beautiful. Incense, I like incense.

Gallimard: I have mistress.

Helga: You can’t live with her, but still you dont’ want to live with me.” (57) [Q]

I felt it was a humilating, phony and agony at the same time for Helga. When she changed all suddenly from hating China to loving it. Being affraid of losing her husband, she has to please and tries to make him love her back. I felf sorry for her also. Anywoman knows her husband cheats on her, it will be the most painful feeling ever. How can she let her husband got out from her arm and went out to love somebody else, and had sex with somebody else. It is very painful when your lover has changed and moved on with another love. The line when she said he couldn’t have Song, but neither he wanted to go back to Helga, I felt very sad and angry at the same time. Gallimard who tried to run and follow his own fatasy and imaginary love which only him who could feel it, not SONG, and in the other hand, there was a wife who was waiting for him to come back to her, waiting for him every second. My mom always says to me to marry the one who loves you, not the one you love that doesnt love you. It’s because when you love and marry someone who doens’t love you, you can’t feel the love of that person who dearly love. You can’t no longer have the happiness of the marriage life.
